The Iranian regime controls the population of Iran through various methods and mediums. Jailing journalists, people who protest are threatened into silence. Even the Iran wants to block Google and wants to create their own internet and also the Facebook is filtered in countries like Iran. The current Iranian regime is corrupt.

Media can construct reality.

“The media are responsible for the majority of the observations and experiences from which we build up our personal understandings of the world and how it works. Much of our view of reality is based on media messages that have been reconstructed and have attitudes, interpretations, and conclusions already built in. Thus the media, to a great extent, give us our sense of reality” (John Pungente,1999). Example of what is going on in Iran right now. People are deprived of rights. Women are banned from so many university courses. People are against the government and want to change it but they get silenced by the government and most of the problems in Iran we observe through media.

Form and content in media messages - According to Marshall McLuhan Each medium has its own grammar and message and the different media portrays the same message differently and create different impression. For example the Iran media will create different impression among their people. Media restrictions are very tight. Even the movies and news have to pass through a committee that ensures it’s Islamic enough and do not have any political criticism of the regime and the media portrays different message outside Iran in terms of criticism of Iranian government.

Media messages contain ideological and value messages - “The mainstream media convey, explicitly or implicitly, ideological messages about such issues as the nature of the good life and the virtue of consumerism, the role of women, the acceptance of authority, and unquestioning patriotism” (John Pungente,1999). For example the Iran government makes sure the movies and the news are Islamic enough for the people without questioning the government.

Media is the propaganda - Media tells us what to do, what to say, what to think and how to behave. This is the situation right now in Iran. The Iranian regime is controlling the Iranian media and they tell their people what to do, what to say, what to think and how to behave.
